Honoring the Inner Fire
Honoring our Source essence goes beyond the post-new-age concept of cultivating self-love. While self-love is an important baby step, as the Chorus Line lyric goes, “that ain’t it kid, that ain’t it kid.” Most people don’t get that far. This world is all about learning what resonates and what does not, and that can keep one fully occupied for a lifetime.
The most amazing thing about awakening is that the process is endless. The more we open, the more there is to integrate. The first, biggest, most crucial step is through the heart. Part of that step is acknowledging the love that we are. Funny, that tends to be addressed last in the Western world.
In the deepest traditions of enlightenment, most of them Eastern, raising one’s vibration is addressed wholistically. Every area of life is tuned, not to perfection, but to the resonance of our inner fire. Practicing reverence for Source’s light, for that inner fire, we become what we are to become. In most sacred traditions, this is understood. We go through what we go through, and it is all a process of honing and refinement. We lean in to the inner light until it absorbs us completely.
Most people are not at all interested in this kind of deep cultivation of Source’s light. Many don’t believe it exists within them. Those that know pay it all kinds of lip service. One of the last talks my friend Isis and I had was about her realization that she had been paying lip service to Source for years. That chat brought us both to happy tears. We all believe what we want to believe until life shakes us out of that particular delusion. That realization shook her out of this life. I certainly didn’t see that coming. But then, seeing is on a need-to-know basis.
Why talk about honoring the inner fire? What other way to live could be more fulfilling, more frustratingly complex, and ultimately more simple? Why speak of this in terms of honoring? Because it is WORTH IT. Not worth it only because of the ecstasy one experiences.. Many try for higher vibration just for that. And, when learning continues, they become disenchanted. With each awakening comes a complimentary adjustment, sometimes known as ‘another dark night’ experience wherein one sees just how big an idiot {asshole} they have been about many things. This, too, passes. It is only old stories burning.
The double full moons of August, encompassing the cosmic alignments that are called the Lion’s Gate in various ways, amplify and accelerate the ignition of new possibilities. Our inner fires are being stoked. Breathe. Relax. Release. This is all part of the shift hitting the fan.
We are not bound by what we think we are. As the saying goes, only thinking makes it so. We are not any identity we have believed ourselves to be. We are Source’s love and light. That essence is being fired in the kiln of the Great Mother. Won’t it be fun to see what comes gleaming and glistening from those fires?
Lean into the light. There is so much of it just now! You can’t go wrong by honoring this passage and letting the light lead.
